MEANING • SAFETY • TIMING
Grateful to the incredible Nayi Disha team and every participant for bringing such energy, openness, and courage into the session. Special shout out to Lavanya for the coordination, Bhavya for the tech support as I goof up with break out rooms! Chitra for bringing the cheer and playing along with the jokes as a true sport!
Prachi Deo your team out did themselves yet again !
We explored how through a game

Meaning : The same word can mean very different things depending on who is speaking (arc, semi-circle, half-moon… all pointing to the same, yet not the same). With parents too, “support” or “connection” may carry different meanings, our role is to pause, listen, and clarify.

Safety : We saw how expression changes with pressure: the first speaker was anxious, the next more balanced, and those later more relaxed. Just like parents comparing themselves: one parent’s “success” may inspire another, but it may also bring sadness. What works for one family may not work for another, safety means holding both without judgment.

Timing : We don’t know what happened in someone’s life the night before or even minutes before they walk into a space. Parents are already carrying advice from multiple sources. Our job is not to add noise but to listen first, ask before assuming, and speak when the timing is right.
The heart of it all is being OPEN:
O – Open to listen before speaking
Thank you once again, Nayi Disha team, for co-creating such a meaningful space. Here’s to staying OPEN, together.
