#JUSTICE_is_a_JOURNEY

December 10, 2025

#JUSTICE_is_a_JOURNEY, not a verdict. Many of us have been holding a difficult mix of relief and heaviness. The assaulters were convicted. The person accused of conspiring walked free for lack of evidence.Again, the patterns of power became impossible to ignore. This is neither about him nor about proving anything about her. With her is the baseline. The real question is: who are the ones choosing not to stand with her, & what does their silence reveal? Punishment alone isn’t justice. Justice needs conversations that stay alive long after a verdict. Because her voice cannot be pushed aside. Because the imbalance that enabled this violence doesn’t disappear just because a courtroom has spoken. Because unless we understand how power protected him, we cannot restore what power took from her. So let’s OPEN the conversation. O — Observe the order of events. A woman was assaulted. She named what happened. Evidence was gathered. Some were convicted. One walked away due to gaps the system could not fill. When we lay the events out in order, without distortion, what becomes visible about whose safety mattered & whose reputation mattered? P — Perspective. Picking sides is not optional. If someone is not standing with the one who was assaulted, who are they standing with? And why? What discomfort, loyalty, fear, convenience, or benefit keeps them aligned elsewhere? What story are they telling themselves to justify turning away from her? E — Expand. Let’s elaborate on that. When people avoid taking a stand, what are they protecting? A career? A connection? A public image? A belief that powerful men deserve the benefit of doubt? An old allegiance that feels safer than truth? When we expand the picture, power becomes visible in the small choices people make to distance themselves from a survivor. N — Narrow it down. Every silence is meeting a need. What need is being protected - money, influence, safety, belonging, status, access, visibility? And what need of hers is being denied -dignity, safety, truth, community? Naming these needs is the only way we can start correcting the imbalance that has shaped this case from the beginning The journey continues in every home, newsroom, platform, & gathering where we choose to keep talking, keep asking, keep listening.
