Having worked predominantly in a clinical setting, being called a "teacher" was the last thing on my wish list. Hardly 3 years of being called so, now, I can’t think of being anything else! As my first batch of students get their (hall) 'ticket' to 'board' (exam) the flight from school to life at large, I feel strange that they wouldn't need me anymore! I can sense (see, hear and feel) their eagerness to proclaim to the world "I'm 18!!!"& no more a school kid!!!..sigh. As I watch them leave I hope I have 'taught' them enough & have 'taught' them well. Knowing surely much that they wouldn't need a 'school teacher' anymore, yet as they leave I remind them gently, very gently without disturbing their adult 'space' but filling those little gaps between a naive child & a confident adult that I fear remains....
