PART 15 OF MAKING LIVED EXPERIENCES MATTER

March 31, 2024

While I am a strong advocate of parent empowerment and how parents are indeed responsible for parenting, shifting the buck to school or professionals is not the way forward; I also understand there is hardly any knowledge shared. skill transferred or support systems in place to help the parents navigate the journey.
And sadly, they get all the blame and shame for anything and everything their children say or do. While childhood trauma is much real and understandable, it is unfortunate when adult children use the term to blame and shame their parents or teachers or anyone else.
The idea of understanding the concept of trauma and vulnerability was not supposed to be a fault-finding exercise. We so often associate responsibility with "who is to blame" and accountability with "who can be shamed". This blame shame [BS] on oneself and others is what we all can hopefully unlearn as a way forward.
