A MESSAGE FOR VISHU FOR ONE AND ALL

April 16, 2024

❤ A MESSAGE FOR VISHU FOR ONE AND ALL ❤
Using the acronym #VISHU and wishing everyone the same.
Here’s the deeper meaning I’m assigning to this auspicious day which signifies growth!
V - Today, let us embrace #VULNERABILITY. Vishu is a time of new beginnings, of seeing the world with fresh eyes. Let us acknowledge our vulnerabilities and those of others as not just imperfections, but as essential aspects of our humanity that connect us in our shared experiences. Vulnerability to me is threefold. When we are faced with a lack of knowledge, lack of skill or a lack of support. None of them have all the knowledge, skills and support all the time. We all need help and the biggest roadblock to seeking help is associating blame and shame with lack of knowledge and lack of skill.
I - From this Vishu on, Let’s #INVEST in #INTERESTS—not just our own, but also in understanding and appreciating the interests of those around us. Let this be a time when we learn about what drives and delights those we care about. And be okay if that is different from ours. In doing so, we build stronger bonds and a deeper sense of community.
S: #SELF COMPASSION: Let us hold ourselves in compassion so that we are able to share enough from within us to other too. However, if we are holding much shame and blame within, we might be able to share only that with others too. Our words and action can hurts others even if we do not mean to. Same way other’s words and actions too can hurts us even if they did not mean to. Let us say what we mean , mean what we say but not say it mean.
H #HEALTH is often seen in two parts mind and body. From this Vishu on, let's learn that our nervous system and our brain are very much part of our body. Our thoughts and feelings as integral parts and even shape our physical well-being. Happiness is only one among many emotions that we experience. May we remember to accept and acknowledge that it is #HEALTHY to feel all our feelings—the joy, the sadness, the peace, and the pain—as part of a full and rich life. #HEALING happens only when we allow ourselves to feel it all before brushing it aside to attain happiness as a goal.
U - Lastly, let us focus on #UNDERSTANDING. May we deepen our understanding of ourselves and others instead of falling into the easy patterns of blame and shame, let's commit to empathy, which starts with oneself, being able to listen to and sit with and understand one’s own thoughts and feelings and do the same with another’s too. May we understand that each of us is #UNIQUE as everyone else.
As we look forward to the year ahead, let the light of the Vishu Kani fill our homes and hearts, guiding us to embrace our vulnerabilities, nurture our interests, practice self-compassion, and aim for holistic health, and understanding each of our uniqueness. Happy Vishu to one and all!
