"Empowering Conversations at the International Menstrual Hygiene Day! 🌸 Today, on International Menstrual Hygiene Day, I had the privilege to address a topic that was once considered taboo but is now being brought into the light. With the support of my lovely teacher and my son 'S,' we discussed MENstruation. Back when I experienced Menarche, I wouldn't have had the confidence to talk about it. But now, as I approach Menopause, it's our turn to ensure our children don't face the same inhibitions. We must break the silence and embrace open conversations. Sd, my 11-year-old, shared his thoughts: He recalled a time when he saw a paper ball, wondered what was inside, and learned about menstruation. His mother explained it, and he was amazed. He humorously mentioned how he teased his brother about diaper ads but quickly realized it's not a topic to make fun of. He also shared an incident from 4th grade when he asked his mother why his younger brother wasn't toilet trained. His mother explained that it was her period and that it's what happens when a girl changes into a woman. In 5th grade, one of his friends experienced puberty, and it made him think about how this transition into adulthood affects both genders, despite the word MENstruation. MENstruation, MENarche, MENopause — it seems MEN are involved in everything, yet it's primarily about women. Let's keep the conversation going and break the stigma surrounding menstruation. #MenstrualHygieneDay #EmpowerThroughEducation"
