importance of #ParentEmpowerment

February 18, 2018

I would like to express my gratitude to Rajagiri Public School for giving me the opportunity to engage with a group of motivated parents who were eager to learn and had thoughtful questions. I'm looking forward to our next session, where we'll delve into the specifics of each topic. During our interaction, I emphasized the importance of #ParentEmpowerment as a central focus of the #TogetherWeCan initiative. I shared some key principles for effective parenting: #Prioritize Parenting: As parents, we should use all our senses when interacting with our children. This includes giving them eye contact when we speak to them, listening to what they have to say, being attentive to their emotions, sharing meals with them, and most importantly, offering them our touch and a daily hug. #Ask for help and provide Alternatives: While it's crucial to set boundaries for our children, we should also be prepared to offer them alternative behaviors when they need guidance. And when we find ourselves in challenging situations, it's perfectly fine to ask for help. #Routine is crucial: Establishing routines creates predictability and a sense of safety for our children. When they feel safe and calm, they are more likely to cooperate. So, building healthy routines is the foundation for cooperation. #Error Correction Method: When our children make mistakes, it's important to first manage our own emotions. We should avoid repeating and reminding them of their errors and instead focus on showing them the right way. Letting them face the natural consequences of their mistakes can be a valuable lesson. Additionally, we need to emphasize the importance of exercise and healthy eating habits. #Neurodiversity: Every child is unique, and it's essential to understand and accept their individuality. Our role is not to "fix" them but to discover the methods that work best for them. #Technology and Time Management: Technology can be a great educational tool, but we must ensure it doesn't replace real-life learning and connections. Teaching time management is also crucial. #Skills vs. Subjects: Focusing on teaching skills rather than just subjects can help children develop a broader range of abilities. Seeking support from the school and being aware of sensory overload are essential considerations. One size doesn't fit all, and we must tailor our parenting approach to the unique needs of our children. I believe that through these principles, we can empower parents to create nurturing and supportive environments where children can thrive and learn. Thank you for the opportunity to share these insights. #TogetherWeCan #ParentingJourney 🌟👩‍👦‍👦💪
