I'd like to express my gratitude to Tattwa for leading the way in our journey. Special thanks to Chitra Vinod, my dear Chitz, for demonstrating that learning is a lifelong process.
Interacting with this wonderful group of students was a joy. Our conversations were all genuine, spontaneous, and honest, and I learned so much from them. It was a powerful reminder for us as adults that when we place our own happiness as a responsibility of our children, we hinder their ability to focus on their own thoughts and feelings. They become hyper-focused on "what will others think or feel," and this can lay the foundations for childhood trauma—an unhealthy balance between one's authentic self and attachments.
Remember, we are all flawed humans, but that doesn't make any of us less worthy of respect. Let's:
- Be Aware : Overthinking often happens when our thoughts become entangled with our emotions. All emotions start with anxiety, escalate to agony, and can lead to anger. Address the anxiety first.
- Reflect : Take time to analyze each thought. Is it coming from your reasoning brain, your relationship brain, or your reptile brain? If you can't figure it out, seek help.
- Clarity and Communication : Once you have clarity on your thoughts and feelings, align your words and actions with what you truly want. This helps avoid confusion within ourselves and in our interactions with others.
- Health, Healing, and Hygiene : Emotional well-being is an ongoing process, much like our daily routines for eating and excreting. We need to acknowledge and express our emotions daily to make them a part of our lives.
