It was an 8-hour round trip in a single day. My body? Begging for rest. But my heart, my heart was humming with life.
What a ride. Literally and metaphorically. From the joyful journey with the best company to what felt like a red-carpet welcome from the bright, beaming team at CommuniCare, it was all heart, all soul.
A massive space, buzzing with energy and intention. A space that doesn’t just hold children, it engages them. In learning. In skills. In life.
What struck me most? The sincerity, not just from the children, but from the parents, the community, and most of all, from the force behind it all:
Kavitha George
Why do I place my hope here? Why does trust feel so natural with this initiative?
Because of "who" Kavitha is.
Because of what she brings, not just experience, but deep 'lived' truth.
She speaks, openly and vulnerably, about how essential support is. How 'fortunate' she was to have it, especially from her in-laws, and how painfully aware she is that not everyone does.
And how even when we do, 'it’s still hard'.
Because sometimes, what parents, especially mothers, need is "respite".
Not just from the physical exhaustion of care,
but from the invisible emotional weight:
The guilt. The shame. The blame. The regret.
The fear of being seen as less than loving, for simply saying:
"This is hard. I need a break. Even from my child."
Not because we love them any less,
but because loving them so deeply, so constantly,
while living in a world not built for their needs,
is heartbreakingly exhausting.
We ask ourselves. Am I selfish for wanting joy? For needing time?
Will I be judged for dancing, laughing, 'living' outside the roles of mother, caregiver, protector?
How can I hold space for my child 'and' still hold space for 'me'?
CommuniCare sees this. They step in exactly where it matters, not just therapy, not just education, not just community, but the bridge that connects all of it.
They start with home visits.
They listen.
They assess each family’s needs.
They chart 'individualised' support plans.
And even in just 6 months, the community response?
Phenomenal.
Why?
Because of Kavitha’s conviction.
Because of her relentless belief in her vision.
Because of her heart.
She’s not just building a centre.
She’s shaping a "movement".
More power to you, Kavitha, and to the entire CommuniCare team.
Can’t wait to see this model ripple across the country.
You’ve got our trust, our support, and our heartfelt cheer.
Let’s build more bridges like this.
Let’s offer respite, and reclaim joy.
