the power of inclusive education

August 19, 2019

Today was a remarkable day where I had the privilege of witnessing the power of inclusive education and the dedication of both teachers and parents in a mainstream school, Global Public School in Kochi. This experience left me in awe and led me to reflect on the significance of inclusion in education.   The school's commitment to inclusion, encapsulated in their motto, "#No_child_left_behind," was truly impressive. It's not every day that you come across a mainstream school so eager to prioritize inclusion, learn and adapt, and work tirelessly for the benefit of every child. This commitment from the administration set the tone for the entire day.   The teachers at this school are an exceptional group. They have not only embraced the school's policy on inclusive education but have also taken the initiative to enhance their understanding of child development. Their willingness to go the extra mile, manage differentiated teaching, and provide valuable feedback on what works and what doesn't is a testament to their genuine concern for the well-being of the children. It's inspiring to see such dedication.   Equally remarkable are the parents who actively support their children's education. Their willingness to attend teacher-counselor meetings to discuss Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and their open communication about their children's challenges and struggles at home are crucial. They understand that their involvement is a key factor in the success of inclusive education.   This experience left me feeling immensely grateful for the alignment of these wonderful people in my life. It has also taught me the importance of being more forgiving and tolerant of those who may not fully comprehend the significance of inclusive education. Today was a day that reinforced my belief in the power of collaboration and dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
