“The Recent Article Prompting Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KeSCPCR) to Take Swift Action.”

August 8, 2019

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Times of India for providing us a platform to make an impact. It's heartening to see that our collective efforts are not in vain. The recent article has prompted the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KeSCPCR) to take swift action.   The article highlights the following developments:

  1.   CBSE's Response:   The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has been rejecting reports based on the headings. Additionally, they are now requesting reports every year from 9th to 12th.

  1.   Challenges Faced:   I have come across instances where even highly experienced and licensed psychologists have refused to provide necessary provisions, citing that the child has a low IQ. Many professionals seem to be unaware of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016.

  1.   Confusion Over Eligibility:   It's disheartening to note that a special educator rejected a report because they believed the disability should be at 85%, while the child's score was at 78%. This creates unnecessary hurdles for our children.
My Appeal to Parents:   I want to encourage all parents to be bold and speak up. Your voice is not only valuable but essential. Silence and fear are the breeding grounds for abuse, and we must not allow that to happen. If you encounter any challenges in obtaining the necessary support and provisions for your child, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at twctogetherwecan@gmail.com. Together, we can stand up for our rights and advocate for what is right.   I truly appreciate your support, and I believe that by working together, we can make a significant difference. Let's continue to raise our voices for the well-being and rights of our children.
