Feeling deeply grateful to be part of this meaningful conversation at
#ViswajyothiKindergarten, Angamaly, a space opening up to the emotional lives of children and inviting caregivers, educators, and practitioners to pause and reflect.
Though I’ll be introduced as one of the “experts” (and I understand the intention), I must admit, I gently cringe at the word. Because to me, expertise is not a label,it’s a posture. A posture of curiosity. Of being willing to unlearn, to listen more than speak, to notice rather than advise.
The truth is: each of us is the expert of our own life. Of our body. Our emotions. Our thoughts. And if we can teach our children to trust that inner knowing early on, what a gift that would be.
We don’t become experts in another person’s life. We simply become people who hold space long enough for others, especially children, to remember that they already know.
When a child trusts us, our role isn’t to hold that power, but to return it to them, slowly, gently, consistently. So they grow not by silencing their voice to follow ours, but by trusting our care enough to keep their voice alive.
That’s the balance we aim for.
Thank you for making space for this kind of dialogue. Looking forward to sharing and learning together.
