As a psychologist and co-founder of Together We Can, I have a deep commitment to ensuring the well-being of children with disabilities. Our advocacy group was formed after receiving numerous complaints from parents of children with neurological disorders about malpractices in therapy centers, particularly in Kochi. During a televised discussion on therapy practices for autistic children, I shared concerns about the lack of transparency, accountability, and parental involvement in therapy sessions. I firmly believe that parents should be part of these sessions to ensure the safety and well-being of their children. Incidents of accidents and mistreatment at therapy centers have raised serious concerns. Following the show, I faced significant online harassment, mainly from occupational therapists who perceived my statements as an attack on their profession. However, my primary goal is to advocate for the need to regulate these centers, which will protect children and enhance their therapy experiences. In collaboration with other concerned parents, I filed a writ petition with the Kerala High Court, seeking the establishment of a regulatory body for therapy centers. Our aim is to standardize procedures and improve transparency to prevent further mistreatment and accidents. While occupational therapists argue that I defamed their profession, I maintain that my intention is to address these issues and create a safer environment for children with disabilities. It's crucial that we focus on the well-being of these vulnerable children and work towards meaningful solutions. #ChildSafety #OccupationalTherapy #Regulation #ChildrenWithDisabilities https://www.thenewsminute.com/kerala/questioning-malpractices-associated-occupational-therapy-kerala-researcher-targeted-63935?fbclid=IwAR3LpGXg5Sn2WiA-PJURnTnMvvtPFDKtl0FsvZ1CNNRjyOcd-uMTRt4KJqg
